New Mobile Health Clinic to Deliver Essential Services Across Black Hawk County and Surrounding Areas

Black Hawk County Public Health, with support from Black Hawk County, is proud to announce the launch of its new mobile health clinic, a state-of-the-art unit designed to bring vital health services to Black Hawk County and neighboring communities. This initiative aims to eliminate barriers to care by meeting people where they are.

“Whether due to distance, cost, or other logistical challenges, many individuals and families struggle to get the care they need,” said Disa Cornish, Chair of the Black Hawk County Board of Health. “Transportation is a significant barrier for many people when they are seeking access to services. One way that we can help is to remove the need for transportation at all. The mobile health clinic will bring important health services directly to the community to promote and protect health and prevent disease.”

To support this initiative, the Black Hawk County Board of Supervisors set aside American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to make the mobile health clinic a reality.

“Public Health are the quiet hands working every day to keep us all safe,” added Black Hawk County Supervisor Chris Schwartz. “The Board chose to invest in this new mobile clinic so that critical public health services like testing, screenings, and treatments can now be delivered where the people are, in communities large and small across Black Hawk County."

The mobile health clinic is equipped with two confidential exam rooms, an accessible restroom, vaccine and specimen storage, and a blood draw station.

Depending on event and location, the mobile clinic can provide the following services to eligible individuals:

· Vaccinations for children and adults

· Lead testing and oral health screenings for children

· Free sexual health services, including HIV/STI screenings and condoms

· Free harm reduction kits

For details on eligibility requirements, visit the Black Hawk County Public Health website.
