110321_Press Release_Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine Approved for Children Age 5-11

Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine has been approved for children ages 5-11. In Black Hawk County, the vaccine for children 5 through 11 years of age will initially be available through MercyOne, UnityPoint Health, and Peoples Community Health Clinic. Residents are urged to call their child's health provider to schedule vaccine.

On July 27, the CDC updated their mask guidance to recommend masking in public indoor settings for fully vaccinated people who live in areas of substantial or high transmission. Black Hawk County is currently experiencing high COVID-19 transmission. For the safety of our community, and to slow the spread of COVID-19, Black Hawk County Health Department is encouraging residents to mask when indoors for the protection of themselves and their community.
