How to Report STI’s

Iowa Code Chapters 139A and 641 designates which diseases are reportable within the state. This includes several foodborne illnesses, sexually transmitted diseases, vaccine presentable diseases, vectorborne diseases, and potential bioterrorism agents, among other types of diseases

Iowa is a dual reporting state with both labs and providers required to report. In the State of Iowa, chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, HIV, and AIDS are reportable to the Iowa Department of Public Health.
