Vaccine Distribution

Following guidelines from IDPH and the CDC, we're beginning to distribute COVID-19 vaccines in Black Hawk County. Our phased roll-out carefully identifies and prioritizes vaccine availability based on several factors, including risk category, exposure, and occupation.

This weekly news brief provides updated information regarding the current status of COVID-19 vaccine efforts in Black Hawk County. Today Black Hawk County Public Health announced a Vaccine Incentive Program beginning June 11 and running through June 30.

Black Hawk County Public Health is launching the Black Hawk County Vaccine Incentive Program which includes a raffle of 20- $500 gift card baskets. To be eligible to win, recipients must be 18+, live in Black Hawk County, and get their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine between June 11- July 29. Four prizes will be drawn every Friday in July, beginning July 2. This incentive program aims to increase the current 58.2% vaccination rate (BHC residents age 18+) to 75% by July 29, 2021.

The intent of this document is to provide guidelines for how to prevent and contain the spread of COVID-19 during events and large gatherings. This document is meant to supplement guidance developed by the Iowa Department of Public Health, Centers for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC) and other professional agencies. The guidance applies primarily to unvaccinated individuals, and the Black Hawk County Health Department encourages all residents age 12 and older to receive a COVID-19 vaccine.
